Apple

Jack has never really liked apples before, but I think it's because I never just let him have the whole apple. He has been saying the word apple for awhile everytime he would see an apple, or something that looked like one, but yesterday, he actually ate one like a big guy and kept saying, "Apple!" He loved it. Then he kept dropping it on the floor and Daddy threw it away. He was sad! But at least the kid likes apples now!

Curly Hair, Big Eyes

I never thought Jack's hair was going to stay this curly for this long! I love it! And his eyes are so big! We have had some pretty nice weather this past week and played outside a bunch. He loves to play ball and just run around the yard and the deck. He likes to play with Boomer and look for airplanes in the sky!

Carousel Ride

We live in Leavenworth, which is the, "First City of Kansas," and have lots of little historical places and landmarks all over town, but we thought Jack might really enjoy this one. It was the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum with an original and fully restored 1913 carousel. Paulette, Jack's grandma, or "Paulie," as we're calling her, came up to visit us this weekend and we thought we'd take her and she and Jack could ride the carousel. Kevin rode it too! It was sort of hard to get a good picture, but here's a few. I also got a short little video clip, again, hard to see Jack, but you get the idea! Enjoy!

Lost at 5 weeks along

We found out on Easter Sunday, by taking a home pregnancy test, that I was pregnant. It was really early, but the dr. confirmed it the next day. I had my blood drawn to check for the hormone levels. I was feeling skeptical...pretty typical of myself for anyone that really knows me, but we had to wait and see what was going on. I had several internet cheapie pregnancy test strips so I was using those and the lines were soooo faint, even after several days...I knew something was up. I felt like total crap on Tuesday and even had some nausea that night, but I just felt like this pregnacy wasn't going to last. The dr. confirmed my skepticism on Wednesday by saying the pregnancy hormone was really low and I needed to come back for another blood draw to see if the levels were increasing properly. I already knew in my heart it was going to be another miscarriage. Lots of stories of how it could be early, so the numbers are low, and how it was still possible for it to work out, but when the lines on the tests never got any darker by Thursday, I just knew this wasn't going to work. Dr. confirmed that on Friday. Then it was sit and wait. Sit and wait to miscarry. It finally happened this morning, 5 weeks along. Everything has passed and now it's time to move on to another month. I'm feeling fine about this now. All the real emotional stuff happened last week and I've already come to terms with what I just experienced. I've been through it before and last time it was much harder. It still sucks, but I'm feeling fine now. Just wanted to let everyone know what was going on here.

Easter

I'm a little behind on posting the Easter pictures and stuff. The day before, we colored eggs. Jack tried to help, but was far more interested in splashing the water around in a pan! We had an okay Easter. Jack got his Easter basket that morning, Kevin played trumpet at a local church, I stayed home becuase I was sick, and we had a ham dinner. Jack liked looking in his basket at the candy and stuff! He loved the bunny stuffed animal he got!

Coloring Eggs, well, splashing in the pan!

Kevin's K/1st Grade Music Program

Kevin had one of his music programs on Tuesday night and of course it was fabulous! The kids did great and it was fun to watch! Jack loved the Kindergartners. They sang some songs he knows, like, "Head and Shoulders, Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC's," and stuff like that! After the program, Jack headed up to the risers and started doing his own show. It was funny! He was acting like he was performing. He was dancing and trying to sing!

First Easter Egg Hunt

I took Jack to his first easter egg hunt yesterday afternoon. The weather wasn't the greatest because it was very windy and it was kinda rainy, but it was fun to get out. Amanda came with us because Kevin had an all-day gig in downtown KC with Jeremiah. We got there a little late, well actually we got there right at the starting time, but as we were walking over, they said "GO" and all the kids were off! There were so many kids there and by the time we got to the park area, there were no eggs left for Jack to pick up. He didn't really understand what was going on, but we let him wander around a little and he liked seeing all the kids. A little girl walked past us with her basket full of eggs and she tripped a little and one of the eggs fell out of her basket. She kept going and so did the man that was with her, so I waited a few seconds then grabbed the egg for Jack! Alas, he got one egg and he loved it! There was a piece of candy inside, so he was shaking it and just smiling! It was cute!

A Few Things....

Jack is getting really good at doing different animal sounds. He can do horse, sheep, cow, monkey, pig, cat, dog, owl, chicken, rooster, and probably more...it's hard to think of all them! My favorites that he does is the monkey and the chicken! I am trying to get it on video of him doing all the different sounds, but it's hard because, well, he's a toddler and it's hard to keep his attention for very long! I do have a short video clip you can watch if you use this link:

Also, Grandma Paulie got Jack this rocking horse for Christmas and he loves riding it! Normally it plays horse sounds and a song, but the batteries are dead and he says, "batteries," because I keep telling him it needs batteries when he tries to turn on the sound. He even said "Paulie" today while I was making this little video of him! Cute stuff!
