A Play-by-Play with Playdough

This was Jack's 2nd time playing with playdough. I got this for him for his b-day and when we got it out last week, he only wanted to eat it!! This time, he actually didn't try to eat it and he played really well with it! Here's a play-by-play of his first time "playing" with playdough!! haha!

Getting out one color first:

Then he wanted blue, not yellow, but blue!

Next, I made him a cat with the blue while he played with the white:

He really liked picking little pieces off the white:

Then I guess he decided that my cat was a cow and it needed some decorations which he worked very hard at putting on the "cow!"

And Voila! You have our new cow/cat with white chunks sculpture!

I think we'll be getting this stuff out again soon! It was fun!

The First Fall Evening of 2009

Yesterday was the first official day of Fall! The temps dropped yesterday and it was a perfect fall day! We spent the evening playing out in the yard and it made me so happy since this is my favorite season! I just love it! Jack enjoyed taking his milk outside and dunking his cookie in it out on the porch then just playing around with Boomer.

Notice his Oreo cookie beard!

Boomer sprawled out and so did Jack, right next to her!

Jack is 2!!

Happy birtday to our baby boy! He turned 2 on September 10th! I cannot believe he's already two. I think he knows it now, too! We've had sort of a rough past week. He's been a lot more trying these days! We had a fun birthday week though. I made and decorated a Wall-E cake for his birthday party at home. Grandma and Papa Burton got Jack and his cousins, that all celebrate summer/fall birthdays, an icecream cake and we celebrated at their house too! All in all, it was very fun!

Wow...I'm sort of nervous here...

So I am packing for a weekend trip to Aurora to visit my family and for my 10 year high school class reunion. And I'm sort of nervous!! I haven't seen these people literally since we graduated and I have gained so much weight since then! EEK!! I wouldn't be as nervous if I wasn't having to go alone. Kevin has to stay here to make us some grocery/gas money for next week. There's just no way around it. If it were college friends, I wouldn't be nervous, but I didn't exactly have the greatest of friendships in HS, but lots of aquaintances. I'm sure it'll be fun, but I'm still a little nervous!! LOL!

Cool Evening

We've been having the best cool weather lately and it's made for some really nice, enjoyable evenings outside!

Under the Bed

Jack has discovered the joy of chasing the cats around and he LOVES to chase Georgia the most. One morning, he was chasing her all over the house and then I heard it get quiet....and any mom can tell you that's when you start to wonder or worry. So I went to check on Jack and I couldn't find him. So then I looked under our bed and here's what I saw!

Yep! There he was!

I'm a Blog Slacker!

So, I haven't exactly been great about posting anything new on here lately! I meant to, but never got around to it! We finished out our summer and have started back to school already. Kevin had bandcamp and inservices and stuff and I just enjoyed my last few days of being off work.

A few weeks back, I used an idea of Amanda's, that she used with her kindergarten students last year and it was a hit with Jack! I got out a pan and poured some lime jello powder into it and showed him how to draw shapes and stuff in the powder. He really enjoyed it! Especially when he figured out he could taste the powder and it was sweet! He ended up with a really green mouth and hands, but it was fun!

We also made a trek out to the Weston state park to walk their 3 mile trail. Jack rode a little bit in his stroller, but mostly he walked with us. He loved it! He also came extrememly close to picking up a snake that made its way onto the trail. It sort of freaked me out! EEK! Fortunately, Kevin saw the snake right before Jack reached down. Then it slithered off. I wasn't sure what kind it was, but it didn't look like a typical garden snake. Ick!

One of the days that Kevin and all the other teachers were back at school in meetings and band camp, I helped out the band teacher and babysat for his little guy this week. Carter is 9 months old and was so cute! Jack was a touch jealous at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea of having a buddy to play with that day. Jack would "tell" Carter about things, it was cute! They had fun and so did I!
